New Years Mani and I'm Back!

Hello everyone,

Happy holidays! Sorry about the delay in posting, I just got back from sunny Florida where I celebrated Christmas with my fiancé's family. I had a plain shellac manicure while I was down there so I wouldn't have to worry about anything happening to it. I didn't feel it was worth posting, so when I got home I made sure to post this one :)

Christmas Season #2: Blue with Silver Snowflakes

Hello everyone,

Sorry about the late post this week, I've been super busy with everything going on before Christmas break. This week, I wanted to stay away from the usual Christmas red that I wear all season and try a more general Wintery manicure. This was the result:

Christmas Season 2014 #1: Simple Holiday Glitter

Hello everyone,

Christmas is fast approaching and I couldn't wait to start my first Holiday manicure. This week's manicure is a simple manicure with red, silver, green, and purple glitter polish.

The Lacquer Legion: Yummy

Hello everyone,

I can't believe it's been a month since the last Lacquer Legion prompt already! This month has certainly flown and it's almost time for the holidays. This will probably be my last non-holiday-themed manicure now for the rest of the year!

This month's prompt was "Yummy" and all I could think of was dessert. I decided to paint an ice cream and chocolate manicure (with sprinkles, of course!) and this is what resulted:

Breaking out the Fall/Winter Polishes: Gold and Berry

Hello everyone,

As promised, I'm sharing this week's manicure in my second post this week. It's a simple manicure as of yet and I'm thinking of adding to it as the week goes on.

Testing Glitter Off Base Under Texture Polish

Hello everyone,
Today I am removing my manicure I painted last week. The last time I tested my Glitter Off base coat it worked great on bulky glitter, but it was hard to remove the texture polish simply by picking it off. This time, I'm trying something different.

Simple OPI Liquid Sand Manicure

Hello everyone,

This past week has been really busy with work, I've been fighting a cold/sinus infection/laryngitis, and one of my nails broke off :(. All of those factors put together = a late posting and a simple texture polish manicure. Texture polishes are great for a quick manicure (you don't need topcoat) and it helps cover up a bad break.

Shimmery French Manicure

Hello everyone,

This week, I decided to paint a French manicure. I really enjoy how they look, but this time I wanted to add some sparkly glitter to the tips.

The Lacquer Legion: After Dark

Hello everyone,

For this month's prompt, I decided to create a dark and abstract Halloween manicure. This is what resulted:

Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2014 #4

Hello everyone,

To finish off my manicures for Breast Cancer Awareness Month this year, I decided to complete a manicure with the same polishes I began with: OPI's Pink of Hearts 2013 polishes.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month #3

Hello everyone,

This week, I decided to use my oldest OPI nail polish: And This Little Piggy, and my newest OPI nail polish: It's Frosty Outside (I just recently bought the full-sized bottle after using up the mini bottle I was given last year).

Sorry about the blurry picture, my camera wasn't cooperating with focus today.

My Second Pink Manicure for Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2014

Hello everyone,

This week I really wanted to try out a new polish I bought this weekend: China Glaze's Hologram. It isn't pink, so to keep with the theme of the month I decided to add OPI's Pink Shatter on top :).

On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink: My First Pink Manicure for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hello everyone,

Sorry about the delay in posting again this week. I've been very busy lately with work and some at-home projects. I finally found time to do my nails for the week and wanted to continue with last October's theme of pink manicures for breast cancer awareness.

The Lacquer Legion: Crisp

Hello everyone,

This month's prompt for the Lacquer Legion is "Crisp", which is the perfect word to describe what today feels like! I decided to try a fall manicure to go with this prompt: trees with orange and yellow leaves.

This manicure didn't go as I imagined it would (I'm still not the best at free-handing my nail art), but I think they still look like trees for the most part, haha.
In order to complete this manicure, I started by painting my nails two coats of OPI's Alpine Snow. Once dry, I sponged on OPI's I Just Can't Cope-acabana and Where Did Suzi's Man-go? to create a tree-like effect. Then, using a thin nail-art brush, I painted on the tree trunk and branch shapes using OPI's I Sao Paulo Over There. When that dried, I applied top coat.
This is one of the most tree-like nails :)

Subtle Stamped Manicure

Hello everyone,
Today's manicure is an elegant and subtle stamped palate cleanser. I love doing these in between seasons to get myself ready for the changes to come. I'm sad to start pulling away from the bright and happy colours of summer, but there's so many beautiful colours that I use a lot in fall and winter that are calling my name now too!

Blue and Silver Half Moon Manicure

Hello everyone,

Sorry this week's post is a little late. I haven't been feeling the best since the weekend and I'm starting to feel more myself today. This week, I wanted to step away from stamping to try another technique that I'm not as familiar with: the half moon.

Experimenting with OPI's Glitter Off Base Coat Part 2: Results

Hello everyone,

Throughout the life of this manicure, I carried on as I usually would doing day-to-day things. Today, I decided to give my car a thorough cleaning and shine. This was the first day that anything had changed with my manicure since I applied it on Monday.

I snapped a picture before washing my car, but when I went to upload it, it was all blurry :(. The wear had been great with minimal tip wear and no unwanted peeling so far! I took a picture after washing my car. Still looking good!

Experimenting with OPI's Glitter Off Base Coat

Over the past two weeks I have collected a few new OPI polishes for my collection that I found on sale around the city :). This week I decided to try out my new white polish (OPI's Alpine Snow) and my new Glitter Off Base Coat.

How the Year has Flown!

Hello everyone,

I cannot believe that on August 28th, 2014 it was my one year blogaversary! I didn't think it was so soon, let alone that I had missed it! I have some nail art to share with you today. It was my second attempt of the day: the first one really didn't turn out as planned and ended up coming off without so much as a picture to remember it by, haha. Here's the result of the second attempt:

Purple Gradient Butterfly Nails

Hello everyone,

I couldn't go through the summer without using the beautiful Nailz Craze butterfly stamping plate at least once! This time, I decided to use it over a glittery purple gradient.

I love coming up with different combinations to use the butterfly plate with!

I began by painting two coats of China Glaze's In a Lilly Bit. I created the gradient by mixing and sponging In a Lilly Bit with China Glaze's Lotus Begin and Tart-y for the Party. Once this was dry I applied one coat of China Glaze's Fairy Dust.

I think this is so pretty just like this!

This picture better shows the gradient.

When that dried I used Konad's Black Pearl to stamp the butterfly images from Nailz Craze's NC01 plate and used a dotting tool with Wet n' Wild's White Cream for the dots at the tips.

What do you think?

New Plate!! MoYou London's Greek Mythology 09

Hello everyone,

I recently received some new plates from MoYou London! I know my collection is still small compared to others, but these plates are so versatile and beautiful that I haven't gotten tired of them yet, haha.

This is my newest plate, Greek Mythology 09.
The plate above is my first full-image plate. It has opened up lots of opportunity for creativity as the images are not already cut to fit on the nail. Using this plate, so far I have created two different manicures; one being bright and fun, the other being more subdued yet pretty.

This manicure was created using two coats of China Glaze's Petal to the Metal and stamped with Essie's No Place Like Chrome.

I couldn't choose from the massive amount of possibilities on this plate, so each of my nails are different!

This is the more crazy manicure. I began with two coats of Color Club's Silver Lake on every finger except for my index, which is two coats of China Glaze's At Vase Value. I used: China Glaze's Peonies & Park Ave and Petal to the Metal for the stripes and dots; Peonies & Park Ave for the gradient and the heart stamping; and Konad's Black Pearl for the rest of the stamping. My pinkie, middle, and index fingers have a coat of China Glaze's Fairy Dust on them as well.

What do you think? What manicures have you tried with this plate?

Thanks for stopping by!

New Plate!! MoYou London's Bridal Plate 04

Hello everyone,

Over the summer I have gotten new plates from MoYou London and I have created quite a few manicures with them so far. This is my first manicure with the Bridal 04 Plate:

This manicure was created using 2 coats of China Glaze's Peonies & Park Ave and stamped with Konad's Black Pearl polish.

I really like this design, I think it's different from most full-nail designs because the images connect from nail to nail.

What do you think?
Thank you for stopping by!

Fingerpaints Gel Polish Art-hur Loves Me Review

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased the materials to complete gel and shellac manicures at the request of my family and friends. I decided to try the product on myself before I began on others and this post shows the results of my experience.
I bought the Fingerpaints line of shellac polishes including a beautiful red called Art-hur Loves me (all of the names in this line have art-related titles). Here is how the manicure turned out:

Art-hur Loves Me shown in natural sunlight
This polish looks very jelly-like. I really love how it sparkles! There are beautiful mini red glitter pieces in the polish, but my camera wouldn't cooperate...
Art-hur Loves Me shown up close.
The application process for this manicure went very well. The polishes come with an instruction booklet and mistakes are easy to clean with an orangewood stick. The pictures here are after all of the steps and two coats of the coloured polish.

What do you think? Have you ever tried these polishes before?
Thanks for stopping by!

An Unexpected Holiday with OPI's Where Did Suzi's Man-Go and Nail Art

Hello everyone,

The past few weeks have been really busy what with school ending for the year and beginning summer work. Over the last few days of the school year my mind was drifting towards thoughts of summer. Here is what I came up with as a tribute to summer:

For this manicure, I applied two coats of OPI's Where Did Suzi's Man-Go? to all of my fingers except my ring finger. For my ring finger, I applied 3 coats of Layla's Mermaid Spell. For the pinky and index fingers I sponged OPI's Love. Angel. Music. Baby on the tips and for the ring finger I painted a curvy line and filled in part of my nail with the polish to create a beach. For the middle finger, I stamped the tropical flower design from MoYou's Pro Plate 08 with Konad's Black Pearl polish and coloured in the flower with China Glaze's In a Lily Bit using a dotting tool. On the thumb, I free handed the palm tree with Wet 'n' Wild's Black Creme.

What do you think?

I should be posting more frequently again now. I have lots of pictures to share! Thanks for stopping by :)

Purple Elegant Nails and Nail Polish Quiz

Hello everyone,

I was looking through my nail designs folder and realized that I haven't posted this pretty manicure yet, and it was completed around Easter, haha. I wanted to create an elegant manicure for Easter and this is the result:

For this manicure, I started by painting 2 coats of China Glaze's Tart-y for the Party. When that dried, I used Konad's Special White polish to stamp an elegant french tip design from Konad's plate m62. Lastly, I sealed everything in with a quick-drying topcoat.

What do you think?

Ooh, and I recently took a quiz on NailPolishCanada.com that tests your knowledge about nail polish and... I got a silver ranking!

Orange You Glad It's Spring?

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! For this manicure, I decided to use one of my beautiful nail polishes I received for my birthday, OPI's Where Did Suzi's Man-Go? I wanted to keep it simple this week and just used OPI's Designer...De Better! on my ring finger. Here's how it turned out:

The Lacquer Legion: Garden

Hello everyone,

For this month's manicure, the Lacquer Legion's theme was "Garden". This was announced right after my I received the China Glaze City Flourish collection as a birthday gift, and I couldn't resist using these polishes to create the manicure. Here's the result:

For this manicure, I began by painting each nail a different shade from this collection. My pinky finger is Petal to the Metal, on the ring finger is Lotus Begin, on my middle finger is Peonies & Park Ave, on my index finger is At Vase Value, and on my thumb is In a Lilly Bit. I painted 2 coats of polish onto each nail.

When that dried, I used my dotting tool to create flowers on each nail in a contrasting colour to the base (from L-R: In a Lilly Bit, Spring in my Step, At Vase Value, Petal to the Metal, and Peonies & Park Ave). While the polish was still wet, I used a toothpick to drag the dots into the center to create a flower shape.

I finished up this look by using a white cream polish to create the center dot of each flower and then applying topcoat.

What do you think? How have you used these polishes if you have them?

Thanks for stopping by!

Neon Birthday Nails!

Hello all,

Sorry about the delayed post, there's been a lot going on lately and I haven't been able to get to my computer. My birthday was yesterday and I wanted to celebrate with a manicure that looked festive and fun! I used two of the polishes I received for my birthday from my wonderful fiance and this was the result:

For this look, I applied 2 coats of China Glaze's Rose Among Thorns and then 2 coats of China Glaze's Don't Be A Flake. I love this combination!

Here is Rose Among Thorns by itself (excuse the mess). It's such a beautiful and bright colour!
What do you think? What other colour combinations should I try with Don't Be A Flake?

Thanks for stopping by!

The Lacquer Legion: Glam

Hello all,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! For this manicure, I couldn't think of anything more "Glam" than neon, metallic, and glitter. I decided to paint my nails a neon pink shade and add gold accents to my fingers using scotch tape. Here is the result:

The neon polish is Revlon's Nail Art Neon dual-ended polish in Pink Glow. I applied this as was specified in the directions, then put two pieces of scotch tape outlining my nail in a triangle shape and then painted a coat of ORLY's Luxe.

I finished this look with two coats of China Glaze's Fairy Dust, one of the polishes my fiance picked up for me for my upcoming birthday. I'll definitely be wearing this more often!

What do you think? Is this what you think of when you hear "glam"?
Thanks for stopping by!

Easter Egg Manicure

Hello all,

This week, in the spirit of Easter, I decided to decorate my nails like colourful Easter eggs :).
I saw this post by the wonderful Natalie where she used pastel colours to create a beautiful manicure, and I was inspired. This is the result:

In order to complete this manicure, I started by painting my nails with 2 coats of Wet n Wild's French White Cream. Once that dried, I sponged on 3 different polishes: Wet n Wild's Pink Cream, Essie's Turquoise and Caicos, and China Glaze's Tart-y for the Party. Once I was happy with how it looked, I painted 1 coat of OPI's Servin' Up Sparkle. To finish it off, I sealed everything in with top coat.

What do you think?

Have a good weekend!

Neon Coral and Grey Manicure

Hello all,

This week I wanted something bright and cheery to reflect the nice weather we've been having lately. I decided on Color Club's East Austin, which isn't technically a neon polish, but it is so bright that I wanted to tone it down just a little bit with Color Club's Silver Lake.

In order to create this manicure, I painted 2 coats of East Austin on each nail, then when it dried I positioned striping tape on my ring fingers and painted a thick coat of Silver Lake over it and removed the tape. Lastly, I sealed in everything with a coat of quick dry top coat.

This is the most colour-accurate picture I could get of this polish.

This is what the polish looks like under natural light, much less bright than in the shade.
